Staceyjoy Elkin is highly experienced in knit development and all facets and techniques of textile design. She owned an eponymous knit dev studio in the 90’s. Her specialties are original, logical hand + machine knit stitch structures + designs. Recent design experiments include print patterns for fabric using mathematical visualization motifs, and hand loomed woven structures. The studios clients have included: Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Anne Klein, Urban Outfitters, Gap, Armani, Banana Republic, Bluma Project + many other 7th Avenue designers. So far, in 2013, knits made in our workshop have been sold in Anthropologie, SlowPoke (Hirosaki), Opening Ceremony (Japan) and ABC Carpet and Home.
For 11.5 years, she owned + ran RedLipstick, a Brooklyn, NY boutique.
Ms. Elkin designed about 2 dozen knitting patterns for the books “Knitting for Dogs” and “Handmade Underground: Knitwear”.
She played drums and electric bass in an all girl band that opened for the Clash 5 times, + recorded with London based Y Records: Pulsallama
She spent a really interesting year as an Art Director/Creative Producer at The IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center.
